Thankful & Blessed
My first time staying in town over the weekend and I went to church. I chose to attend a college Sunday School class with other people I had never met. Although I had contemplated just going to the service, I am glad I made the choice to go.
We were handed an index card and asked to make a list of things that we were stressed about. The teacher told us to turn the card over and write what we are blessed with/ thankful for. She explained that our list of blessings are longer than the stressors of life. This week I heard some news that made my stomach turn upside down. I constantly caught myself constantly thinking about it. When the teacher started talking about being thankful and how to make the biggest blessings visible in the hardest times, I realized that I was meant to be in that class.
She told us to turn to two scriptures:

She told us to turn to two scriptures:
"Give thanks in everything, for this is God's will for you in Jesus Christ"
1 Thessalonians 5:18
"Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us hold on to Grace. By it, we may serve God acceptably, with reverence and awe; for our God is a consuming fire."
Hebrews 12:28-29
The teacher told us some things that has made her life feel like her blessings were hard to see. Even when we feel like nothing is going right in our life or that we have no blessings, there is always something to be thankful for. It can be hard to remind yourself of the good, when you feel as if your life is constantly drowning in the bad. She reminded us that we can always be thankful for these four things.
Be thankful:
- God answers prayers.
- God provides.
- For who God is.
- For your brother's and sisters in christ.
I am thankful for many things in this season of my life. I have many things that God has blessed me with over the years. Someone that I met recently turned into one of the biggest blessings I am thankful for in my lifetime. This is Rachel, my roommate and one of my best friends. I am not thankful for her because we are roommates, that is just something else God did. She is a blessing to me because we share similar experiences. We understand each others thoughts, ways of thinking, and the difficulties of a person with ADHD. When I take my medicine, she understands what it feels like after the medicine kicks in.
As I said earlier, God has blessed me with other things as well. These people have have gotten me this far, and believed in me when I didn't believe in myself.
