Believe in Yourself

Sometimes believing in yourself can be rather hard to some people. Others believe that they are able to conquer the world. I would be in the group that struggles with believing in myself. I learned (and still am learning) that you have to believe in yourself to accomplish your dreams.      Between my college classes, taking 3 big tests and making some decisions, I was feeling stressed. I felt like I was not prepared for the test I was scheduled to take on Saturday. I felt as if I had not given myself enough time to study. I just knew I was going to end up retaking the test (again). I decided Saturday morning that I am the only person that can reach for what I want and I can't do that until I believe in myself. I remember when I was younger (and still today) my mom always telling me that I am the only person that doesn't believe in me. I am very blessed to have a mother, father, and sister that push me to do my best. I have an awesome boyfriend that n...

Camp Hawkins 2015

Image
"Before I was born, God chose me and called me by his marvelous grace." Galatians 1:15      I am not sure where to begin telling about my summer, and all of the great things I learned. I worked at Camp Hawkins this summer in Mount Airy, Ga and Baxley, Ga. Camp Hawkins is a summer camp for youth ages 8 to 21 with developmental disabilities. Five of the six weeks I was a counselor for the camp.    At first going into camp as a new counselor made me a little nervous. Meeting new people that I would work with for the summer, and making friendships. When a friend told me I would make friendships to last a lifetime, she wasn't kidding. Honestly, when I first got there I thought there was no way that she was telling me the truth. By the end of 7 weeks I had so many new friendships, but more importantly I had more brothers and sisters.    Each of my campers taught me something different, and all of them were very unique in t...

Be thankful in all circumstances

My heart aches for the population of people of without a family, somewhere to call home, and an education or the opportunity. We take our family for granted (sometimes), that loves us even when we think it is questionable. The people who will always be there for us when others are not, and love us unconditionally; and we don't even see that there are people who really do not have all of it. We have somewhere to call home, no matter big or small, nice or not. We have somewhere to call home, no matter the location. Others do not have a place to call home. But most of all we have the chance to get an education.  A few weeks ago: While I was sitting in my very first ever college service, before the actual reading the lead singer talked about Colossians 3:15 "And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful" Everyday we should wake up and choose to be thankful. Even though it is hard to be thankful for eve...

Forever grateful

Image
I have one day of high school left, and ten days until my high school graduation. I am so thankful for everything that I have been so blessed with throughout these years.    Even though the first half of my senior year really did not happen the way I wanted it to, I am still thankful for my family and friends. It makes me sad that my Granny and Papa will not be there to see me graduate, I still know they are proud. In my mind it is "not fair" because they both got to see my sister graduate (two years ago). I know and understand that everything is not fair in life (thanks to my mom for teaching me that everything can not always go my way), and also that it was God's plan. He must have something great in store and I can not wait to see what that is.    The other morning I went with my sister to get breakfast at chick-fil-a before I went to school, and she went to work. Before we ate she prayed, she prayed about being thankful for me, and that I was gradu...

What you say

I thought that my problem with my jeans was a BIG deal. Yes I do exaggerate somethings in my life like getting bigger to the slightest. For a straight week I put on a different pair of jeans each morning that just didn't fit. I was so aggravated that either 1. I was getting a little bigger  or 2. my pants were shrinking.    It was this very same week that I saw why my dad has taught me a certain lesson for my whole life. My dad has ALWAYS told me that "You never know what someone is carrying around, we all have some type of luggage or baggage we carry". One of my very friends in my class told me that they had cancer. I loved my friend very dearly and never would have thought that she would have cancer. No I was never mean to her, but knowing this opened my eyes. You never know how what you say can affect someone. You have no clue what some people can be dealing with, they might act like nothing is wrong in their life but sometimes people will surprise you. ...

God is good all the time, & all the time God is good

You know when you're little, you want to be things out of the ordinary. You really don't know what you want to do when you grow up. I have wanted to be a teacher, since day 1 of kindergarten. I never thought that 2 months away from graduation, I'd say the same thing. In kindergarten, I wanted to be just a teacher, in middle school I wanted to be a fifth grade teacher, in ninth grade I wanted to be a second grade teacher. What happened to the other three years of high school? Well read on..
The summer between my sophomore year and my junior year my family changed churches. We fell in love with the people at the church, and how inviting they treated us. There was one little boy who MELTED my heart. Never in my life seen anyone like him, and completely fell in love (he was in 3rd grade, NOT a teenager). After talking to him and telling him my name, he called my name looking for me every Wednesday, and Sunday. He would look for me on Wednesday's to eat dinner with me, ...

You never know what you have til it's gone??

What is that saying? You don't know what you have until it's gone? Well it's completely true. You never know how much you're going to miss someone or something until you don't have it anymore. If you have something in your life and you think you can find better, or need better... You shouldn't kick them out. There is probably a reason you were brought together. God probably had a plan for it. Never assume you can find better. Oh yeah. Never be jealous, it's a waste of feelings. Don't waste your time or feelings on someone who is not worth it. Drop it and go, save your time in the long run. Rule number one of being jealous: Being anything less than happy for others blocks your own chance at success and happiness. Never hold back in the past move foward and move on. Rule number two of being jealous: Appreciating “what is” makes what “could be” even sweeter. Appreciate the positive, for while they are they.
